How are you feeling today? Overwhelmed? Scared? Nervous? I think we can all agree that there are a thousand emotions running through every single day. The Covid-19 pandemic has encouraged all of us to practice social distancing and for businesses especially, to show their social responsibility. We have watched big corporations close their doors, and the small businesses we love do the same. During these uncertain times, spending money might be the last thing you want to do. I get it. The reality is, at some point, you will need to shop. When you do, please consider supporting your favourite local businesses. These shops need our support now more than ever. Below are some ways to support your favourite businesses during this challenging time.

1. Shop Local Whenever Possible

  • If you’re debating a purchase between a big box store or a local business, please strongly consider making a local purchase. That one purchase could be the difference between a store reopening, or closing their doors forever.

2. Shop Online

  • We all have a social responsibility to stay home and help flatten the curve. Most businesses who have had to close their storefronts are still offering online purchases. Please consider this as an option.

3. Buy Gift-cards

  • If your favourite restaurant has closed its doors, consider purchasing a gift-card that can be used when they re-open. Whether it’s $10 or $100, anything and everything can make a difference.

4. Sign Up For Online Services

  • Some businesses are offering discounted online services and looking at meaningful ways to provide a value while operating remotely.

5.       Share Your Experiences

  • Word of mouth is the best way to encourage others to shop small. If you found an amazing deal with a local business, talk about it! Share it to social media so that we are all aware and have the information.

               Stay safe and healthy everyone.
